Concrete structural verification

Independent verification and design review of concrete structures

We support national and international clients, contractors and engineering consultancies with technical reviews, second opinions and independent verification of existing and new reinforced-concrete structures within civil infrastructure.

Service

Focused review of reinforced concrete calculations

We review structural calculations, design assumptions, SCIA and other FEM models, reinforcement and detailing. This enables independent design and calculation reviews for bridges, viaducts, tunnels, underpasses, quay walls and other civil engineering structures.

The review approach combines structural engineering depth with practical project experience. We assess not only technical compliance, but also safety, buildability, durability and execution feasibility within the project context.

Registered Structural Engineer level

The expertise is delivered at Dutch Registered Structural Engineer level, comparable to incorporated or chartered structural engineering responsibility depending on the project context. We are used to hybrid working, international project teams and coordination between design, construction and multiple disciplines.

Scope

What can be reviewed

Design assumptions and employer's requirements

Loads and load combinations

Structural schematisation

Hand calculations and calculation reports

SCIA and other FEM calculation models

ULS and SLS checks

Bending, axial force, shear and torsion

Crack width and deformation checks

Fatigue, where applicable

Reinforcement and structural detailing

Anchorage, lap lengths and force transfer

Constructability and execution feasibility

Reassessment of existing civil engineering structures

Processing and answering review comments

Outcome

What the client receives

The exact outputs are agreed upfront based on the verification scope, contractual requirements and available project information. This keeps the review focused, traceable and useful for project decision-making.

Carefully scoped

For formal verification processes, we agree the required independence, verification class, qualifications and project-specific acceptance criteria with the client in advance.

Agreed verification scope

Assessment of assumptions and design documents

Review of calculations and calculation models

Structured comments or verification matrix

Classification of comments by technical relevance or risk

Check of comment processing and responses

Technical coordination with designers and the project team

Final verification note, review report or second opinion, depending on the agreed scope

Approach

From scope to verification product

  1. Technical intake and definition of the scope
  2. Receipt and inventory of documents and models
  3. Assessment of assumptions, calculations and detailing
  4. Recording and discussing review comments
  5. Checking revisions and responses
  6. Completion with the agreed verification product

Standards and frameworks

Review against standards and project requirements

No generic certification claim

The applicable standards, employer's requirements and project-specific frameworks are defined in advance. No generic certification claim is made unless it is explicitly part of the assignment or project acceptance process.

Independence

Clear agreements before the review starts

Technical review of calculations, models and design assumptions

Second opinion on a design choice, detail or verification result

Independent review outside the original design team

Formal contractually required verification, after alignment on requirements and acceptance criteria
